19/07/2017The LGBTQ community and it’s supporters took a blow last year when the Indian government choose to actively abstain from voting altogether on the matter of creating a post for an independent expert on sexual orientation and gender identity in government, a resolution put forward by the UN Council. The advancement of LGBTQ rights in India depends extensively on individuals and the community coming together and creating the change themselves. With this as a starting point, it’ll pave the way for the rest of it to follow.

Indian gay rights activists march in annual New Delhi parade
27/11/2016Hundreds of Indian gay rights activists marched in a parade in New Delhi on Sunday, highlighting the continuing discrimination India’s LGBT community faces and demanding the repeal of a law criminalizing homosexual acts. As they marched to the beat of drums, some participants in the annual gay pride parade said much has changed in recent years, with Indian gay people starting to accept them. But others said India’s right-wing government is against the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
